Wimbish Passivhaus, a housing development managed by Hastoe Housing Association, was recognised in the residential category of the first UK Passivhaus Awards in London. Passivhaus buildings use very little energy for heating and cooling and are designed according to principles developed by Passivhause Institute in Germany.
Working with architects Parsons & Whittley, RES Inbuilt helped achieve Passivhaus certification for the project by providing consultancy in the early stages approving heating and ventilation strategy and performing thermal modelling.
David Coyne, managing director of RES Inbuilt, said: “This award showcases our expertise and pursuit of excellence for our clients. Working with Parsons & Whitley, we were able to deliver properties that are comfortable for tenants and incur fewer energy costs.”
The awards shortlist was drawn up by a panel including Wolfgang Feist, the founder of the Passivhaus standard. It was voted on by the Passivhaus Trust membership.
