Staged alongside Retro Expo, the awards recognise innovation in product, design and delivery. SBS took home the coveted ‘Outstanding Achievement’ gong after being singled out for its impressive contribution to low carbon retrofit projects and its efforts to raise industry awareness.
The award follows SBS’s contributions from director Paul Joyner at Retro Expo, who was a keynote speaker at its ‘Green Deal Summit’. The Travis Perkins Group used the event to launch its Green Deal scheme and its Retrofit Standard Construction Drawings.
The judges praised the “bravery and pioneering spirit” of the Travis Perkins Group and Sustainable Building Solutions.
Paul Joyner said: “We are thrilled to win this award – it’s a true endorsement of what we are trying to achieve as a business and demonstrates the passion and hard work of the whole SBS team.
“SBS and the Travis Perkins Group interact with hundreds of suppliers, builders and contractors every day, so it’s important that we are setting the standard in terms of sustainable retrofit techniques. Our standard construction drawings, for both new build and retrofit markets, are a demonstration of how we are making this a reality and giving customers reliable tools to make high quality, efficient building a reality.”
Norman Bell, group development director, added: “This is a richly deserved award. Under Paul Joyner’s leadership the team has put together the best merchant offer in the Sustainability market. It is based on sound understanding of a difficult and ever changing regulatory and technical environment – a key foundation of SBS.”
