South Downs Solar scoops top award

South Downs Solar has been named ‘Small Business of the Year’ at the 2012 Sussex Business Awards.

The solar company, which was formed in March 2010, says that besides installing solar roofs for the likes of TV’s Oliver Heath and politician Caroline Lucas, it has also installed discreet but powerful solar panelling for some of the county’s most important buildings such as the University of Brighton, the Sussex County FA ground and various churches.

2013 promises to be a busy year for the award winning company, who are the founders of The Eco School Awards – a competition that is running for primary and special schools across East and West Sussex.  The awards scheme will recognise best practice in schools that reduce their power consumption and will culminate, in May, with a Harry Potter themed gala dinner in Brighton when the winning school will win a solar installation worth £20,000.

Michael Yeoman, green energy expert and commercial director at South Downs Solar, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award in recognition of the effort and energy put in by the South Downs Solar team.  We hope this will encourage more individuals and businesses to consider the benefits of solar and we look forward to continuing to grow our company in the future within Sussex and the surrounding area.”
