The £280,000 environmentally-friendly heating system at West Hall in West Byfleet, operated by care home provider Anchor, has been designed and installed by Norwich-based Econic.
A special open day is now being held to show off its benefits on March 13. The open day will run from 10am-4pm with a main reception in the Garden Room in the Manor House at the newly-opened home.
There will also be two site tours at 11.30am and 2pm, with Econic experts on hand (including managing director Rob Gardiner) to talk visitors through the pioneering heating process.
According to Econic, the system is providing 175 MWhrs per year for the complex. It has a peak heating capacity of 200kW at a seasonal efficiency of some 400 per cent whilst the energy is harnessed through a total of 30 vertical boreholes that reach a depth of 115 metres below ground.
Econic’s work is designed to save West Hall an estimated £14,350 in heating bills every year.
Rob Gardiner, Econic’s managing director, said: “Anchor’s commitment to renewable energy has enabled us to save them money, generate revenue through the RHI, secure their future energy costs and significantly reduce their carbon footprint.
“We have worked closely with Anchor’s team to produce a system harnessing the latest technology that will bring real benefits to the residents. That is one of the main messages that we hope visitors will take from the day.
“Being a not-for-profit organisation and a charity, reducing energy bills is obviously important to the company in its creation of the home as is the provision of a safe and comfortable environment for the residents.”
