RES says the award is in recognition of its business success and revenue growth as the company has developed or constructed more than 100 individual wind farms around the world with a combined capacity of nearly 7,000 MW. Of this, more than 5,800 MW is in North America, over 600 MW in the UK and approximately 800 MW across the rest of Europe.
The company reports that success in established wind markets has allowed it to expand into new markets and RES has recently achieved its first sales in Canada, Sweden and Turkey.
Dr Ian Mays MBE, chief executive officer, said: “We are absolutely delighted with to win such a prestigious award. As shown by our increased sales and staff numbers, RES is a true British success story and we feel that this is a testament to the policy environment in the UK which, over the past two decades, encouraged investment in renewable energy and allowed a new business to expand to significance on a global level. We hope that this type of environment will continue to nurture organisations like ours in the future.”
