A new training partnership at Bicton EaRTH in East Devon is launching to help with employment opportunities for installers and existing DEAs as the Green Deal picks up speed.

The renewable technologies hub is teaming up with Moor Energy (SW) to deliver training for people interested in becoming approved Green Deal Advisors for the domestic property market.

“The course will enable both new entrants and existing qualified Domestic Energy Advisors to be at the forefront of this growing market,” said founder and director of Moor Energy, Mark Watling.

“It would be beneficial for heating and plumbing companies to send one or two of their employees for training as Green Deal Advisors – so they can offer this service to customers,” he added.

The five day course, which leads to a Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Green Deal Domestic Advice, comprises Domestic Energy Advisor and Green Deal components, with qualified DEAs needing only to complete a two day top-up course. Courses are already scheduled for June and July, with further dates to follow.

“We are delighted that Moor Energy has joined us to deliver this course,” said Graham Waddell, head of Bicton EaRTH. “Many of the properties to be assessed are older homes, including some in conservation areas. Moor Energy’s expertise in this area will give a practical edge to the training.

“This partnership continues our objective to deliver high quality industry-led training that enables our participants to build their careers in the growing renewable and environmental job markets,” added Graham.
