Viessmann boiler featured on Channel 4 television series

A model from Viessmann’s Vitodens 111-W range of domestic boilers has appeared in property renovation series Double Your House for Half the Money.

The 26 kW gas-fired condensing boiler was fitted by Viessmann installer and director of Gas Safety Plus Ltd, Gary Lewis, in an Interwar terrace property in Whitstable, Kent, as part of a total revamp of the home which hadn’t been modified since the 1960s.

The second series of the Channel 4 makeover show follows families across the United Kingdom as they strive to achieve their property dreams on strict budgets. The seaside two-bedroom home is owned by marketing manager, Paul Brown and his partner Laura Watson. Their desire to move away from London life saw them fall in love with the 1930′s house and work tirelessly to bring it up to date with 21stCentury technology and design.

The new boiler will heat the two-storey property via an underfloor heating system, which runs throughout the whole house. A newly installed water main, and the unit’s high draw-off rate, means that no pressure will be lost when using more than one outlet at a time; a key factor for the young couple as they hope to grow their family in the near future.

Lewis was brought on board by the property owners in April 2013 to install and commission the heating system.

“The changes Paul and Laura were making to their home were significant, and they needed a quality product that would last. I install between 100 and 150 Viessmann boilers every year, and I’ve never had any call backs or reliability issues – it was the perfect fit.

“As the home is insulated and ventilated to such a high standard, the boiler only needs to operate at a minimum level, meaning that the customer’s heating bills are likely to average only £15 per month. What’s more, the weather compensation technology will save them up to a further 15 per cent as the system automatically adjusts the boiler output according to the outside temperature.”

The programme is presented by property supremo Sarah Beeny, who visited the 80 year old property multiple times during its renovation. The episode featuring the Viessmann boiler aired on Tuesday, September 3 (8.00pm).
