The Centre of Refurbishment Excellence (CoRE) is running two new Masterclasses later this month to focus attention on the issues, technologies and solutions around building services and ventilation.

CoRE’s chief executive David Pierpoint said: “Retrofit is not just an issue of building fabric, and we need to look beyond just insulation when looking to make a building more energy efficient.  These masterclasses will show how ventilation, heating, water heating, lighting and appliances can all be improved to make a significant contribution to going greener.”

The Building Services full day masterclass is on 21 November and is delivered by leading energy consultants John Willoughby and Alan Clarke.

The Ventilation full day masterclass is on 28 November and is being presented by Ian Orme of BSRIA and Peter Rickaby from Rickaby Thompson Associates.  Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the essential role of ventilation in retrofit, measurements for ventilation, establishing a retrofit ventilation strategy, system options, issues with MVHR, and emerging techniques.

Prices for single events are £130, with discounts for CoRE members or for attending both masterclasses. West Midlands SMEs may also be eligible for free or discounted places as part of CoRE’s ERDF Business Support Programme.
