Burnley-based Solarlec is promoting its presence in the education sector at two key national conferences.

The PV developer is the official partner to the ‘Power to the pupils’ programme launched by DECC and the Department for Education.

It aims to supply solar power to schools via approved installers, and enable them to avoid high upfront costs via financial solutions.

Solarlec took part in the National Sustainable Schools Conference at Bristol University earlier this month, and will attend The Academies Show at the NEC in November.

Solarlec regional manager, David Hall, said: “Schools and colleges tend to have large roof areas which, by installing solar panels, can be put to work cutting their energy bills and earning a tax-free income.

“We have already completed several school installations across the UK and have more orders coming through all the time. The feedback we’ve received from schools where we’ve fitted systems has been excellent.”
