Day in the life… BB Heat Pumps’ Alfie Dunk 

We’re pleased to welcome Alfie Dunk, director at BB Heat Pumps, to our series a ‘Day in the life of …’ feature, which reveals the person behind the role. What makes them tick, what are their daily habits, and what item can’t they leave the house without.

My alarm goes off at … 

I set my alarm for 7.00 am, but I am usually woken up at 6.00 am by my girlfriend’s alarm, which is followed by all the lights going on as well as her hair dryer. 

The first thing I do each day is … 

Head downstairs to make a cup of coffee and head to the office. I then will check my emails and social media accounts (nothing too exciting, first thing in the morning). 

I prepare for the day ahead by … 

Writing all our tasks for the day on the whiteboard in the office.  

I can’t leave the house without … 

My phone, laptop, and golf clubs because you are never the opportunity will arise to hit a few balls. 

My typical day…  

At BB Heat Pumps my schedule can be very different depending on current projects and those planned down the line. One day I could be in the office the next day I could be up Cambridge commissioning heat pumps, or I am on-site doing all the jobs no one else wants to do. 

The worst part of my job … 

I know this sounds cliché, but I really enjoy the job and any task that comes my way as every day is different. Basically, there isn’t a bad part of the job. 

The best part of my job … 

Every day is a school day to me, and I am always learning new things and taking on new challenges. Also knowing we are doing our part to help in the fight against climate change.  

I relax after work by … 

Playing golf, practising golf, or watching golf.  

On my bedside table is … 

My phone, my watch, my keys, and a lamp.

The last thing I do each day is … 

Turn my lamp off, set my alarm and shut my eyes. 

I’m normally in bed by … 

On school nights, I’m in bed by 9.00 PM and on the weekend I don’t have a bedtime.
