Pliers’ specialist KNIPEX has launched the TubiX® XL Pipe Cutter (90 31 03 BK), big brother to its TubiX® pipe cutter (90 31 02 SB) it successfully launched in 2020. Precise and quick, the TubiX® XL cuts pipes from 6 to 76 mm (1/4” to 3”) and a wall thickness up to 2 mm and can also be used by electricians to cut rigid steel conduit and for stripping steel wire armoured cables.
Rigid steel conduit
To operate the tool, simply place the open KNIPEX TubiX® XL pipe cutter on the pipe, then position and lock the spring-loaded cutting wheel into place on the workpiece using the QuickLock locking mechanism. The pipe is cut by turning the tool, and the clearance between the cutting edge and the pipe can be freely adjusted with the ergonomic feeding barrel. The cut surface can then be deburred if necessary.
The cutting wheel on the TubiX® XL is made of quality ball-bearing steel while the metal housing is light and durable magnesium. The needle-bearing and spring-loaded cutting wheel can be easily exchanged without any tools. A spare wheel is also located in the handle cap.
Cable shears with less effort
The second is The KNIPEX StepCut Cable Shears impress with significantly less effort when cutting cables. Wires or strands can be cut one after the other with the stepped blades.
With the StepCut Cable Shears, KNIPEX makes it easier to cut single and multi-conductor cables made of copper and aluminium up to a diameter of 15 millimetres (50 mm²). Solid NYM cables can be cut easily and precisely up to a maximum of 5 x 4 mm².
The StepCut is not suitable for steel wire and hard-drawn copper conductors. The stepped blades, with a milled serrated edge on the front and a flat edge on the back, have been additionally induction-hardened. The shears can cut wires and strands one after the other, thus reducing the effort required by up to 40 percent. The innovative step cutting allows for a clean cut without the cables being crushed in the cutting process.
The new KNIPEX StepCut is only 160 mm long and therefore weighs relatively little. In addition, the ergonomic design of the handles enables an optimum cutting feel even with larger diameters.
A pinch guard also prevents injuries; the bolted joint makes the cable shears precise and smooth running.
The StepCut is made of forged and oil-hardened special tool steel of special quality; the cutting edges have been additionally induction-hardened.
