New zero-carbon smart homes benefit from Unitherm heat pumps

Exeter-based Unitherm Heating Systems has been working alongside Truro-based Verto Homes on their new homes development at Falmouth Golf course in Cornwall.

Unitherm - zero carbon smart homes in Cornwall

Unitherm has provided the Vaillant air source heat pumps that will provide these zero-carbon homes with the heating and hot water they need but in an environmentally friendly way.

Nestled in the grounds of Falmouth Golf Club you’ll find the Green. The Green provides 30 beautifully crafted two, three and four-bedroomed sustainable homes that are the template for the future of new build homes in the UK as we try to move towards a zero-carbon lifestyle.

Learn to sync with owners’ lifestyles

Each of the new homes on the development offers smart home control systems, so not just energy efficient, but they will learn to sync up with their owners’ lifestyles. In addition, the homes come with solar PV panels on the roof that will help with electricity costs in these difficult times.

These homes all come with an EPC rating of A with a score of 134 which is about as high as it gets. They all benefit from exceptional levels of insulation, the key to success for renewable heating systems such as the heat pump-driven heating and hot water systems incorporated in the homes.

Unitherm specialises in working with developers and homeowners looking to incorporate the latest renewable heating and hot water systems in their homes. In these homes, Unitherm recommended air source heat pumps from leading heating manufacturer Vaillant. Vaillant has launched its aroTHERM plus a range of air-to-water heat pumps.

The units offered via Unitherm come from a range of monobloc units. With monoblocs – where the outdoor unit incorporates all the key components of the system – there is no F-Gas requirement meaning that installation can be carried out by a plumbing and heating contractor with hydraulic and boiler installation experience.

Off the grid

“We are delighted to be involved in these excellent new homes in Falmouth,” says Andy Hooper – Unitherm ‘s managing director.

“As well as securing the supply of the equipment for these homes we are pleased that our relationship with Verto has developed so we will be looking to supply the heating and hot water systems for future developments.

As green as possible

“We are one of the leading distributors of air source heat pumps in the UK now and work with new home builders, social housing providers and commercial property developers who are keen to install renewable heating systems and make their developments as green as possible.

“We’re seeing huge numbers of heat pumps installed across the south west, especially because there are large numbers of properties and new developments being built in rural areas, off the grid.”
