Jordan Brompton, co-founder and CMO of myenergi, is touring the UK in a BYD Seal to demonstrate the real-world suitability of public charging infrastructure.

Her journey comes as part of the EV Rally an initiative spearheaded to showcase British e-mobility and clean energy progress. As well as tackling misconceptions around charging speeds and network accessibility, the event aims to showcase the range and capability of some of the latest electric cars available to buy in the UK.

Following an A-Z of towns, cities and famous landmarks, myenergi’s headquarters in Stallingborough is the rally’s halfway point. Teams will enjoy a guided tour of the company’s state-of-the-art production facilities and see the manufacturing processes behind the company’s renowned zappi home charger.

Today’s industry is streets ahead

Commenting on the rally, Brompton said: “When it comes to making the switch to electric, drivers are often concerned about three simple points – vehicle range, vehicle cost and accessibility of the public charging network. While ten years ago these areas certainly needed more work, today the industry is streets ahead.

“Some models now boast a range of more than 450 miles – far higher than their petrol or diesel equivalent. Prices are falling too, with costs becoming increasingly competitive, especially from a lease perspective. Finally, there are now four times more charging points than petrol stations in the UK, including at almost every motorway service station nationwide.

Spotlight on the real-world potential

“By taking part in the EV rally, we want to showcase these facts and work to alleviate concerns around range, price and infrastructure. By travelling 1,400 miles around the UK in just five days, we’re hoping to shine a spotlight on the real-world potential of electric vehicles.

“Welcoming the rally to the myenergi headquarters in Stallingborough really is the icing on the cake. We’re proud to showcase the area as a hotbed of tech innovation. By seeing our production facilities first-hand, we’re confident that fellow rally drivers will agree!”
