Baxi launches end-to-end heat network solutions service

Baxi has introduced a comprehensive range of products and services, including the new AquaHeat heat interface units (HIUs), to streamline customer support for heat network projects.

The offerings cover all stages, from initial feasibility and design studies to the supply of prefabricated centralised energy centres and HIUs, as well as system maintenance and optimisation.

Heat networks are integral to decarbonising heat and hot water services in residential and commercial buildings. The UK government aims to supply 20% of heat in buildings from heat networks by 2050, up from the current 2-3%.

The Heat Network Transformation Programme, including initiatives like Heat Network Zoning and stricter industry regulations, supports the development of low-carbon heat networks to achieve net-zero targets.

With heat networks increasingly implemented in UK new builds and renovation projects, Baxi offers services to ensure proper implementation. Suitable for new build or retrofit projects in multiple occupancy buildings, campus heating systems, and district heat networks, Baxi’s solutions support residential, public sector, and commercial property developers.

Heat-only model for commercial use

Baxi Packaged Solutions, a key part of Baxi’s heat network proposition, specialises in designing and manufacturing pre-packaged plant rooms for centralised energy centres and prefabricated utility cupboards for individual dwellings.

These solutions typically incorporate heating and hot water products from Baxi’s brands, including Remeha and Heatrae Sadia, as well as heat pumps from BDR Thermea Group’s European facilities.

As part of its heat network range, Baxi is also launching AquaHeat, a new heat interface unit (HIU) designed for multiple occupancy projects such as apartments.

The twin-plate HIUs come in two outputs, providing indirect space heating and domestic hot water (DHW) for both new and existing homes. An indirect heat-only model is available for commercial premises.

Baxi’s heat network service is expanding with the UK launch of Mercurius Connected, a digital innovation already available in Europe, which enables remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimisation of HIUs.

Baxi is leveraging expertise from its parent company BDR Thermea, which recently acquired Fortes Energy Systems, a leading manufacturer and supplier of HIUs and thermal substations in northern Europe.

Feasibility studies and system designs before installation

Baxi’s Integrated Thermal Solutions unit, led by sales director Stephen Hart, offers customers feasibility studies and system design before installation, as well as training, remote and onsite commissioning, and ongoing service support.

Stephen Hart said: “It is clear that heat networks will be one of the key routes to decarbonisation. Listening to our customers, it is equally evident that having a single point of contact will help them with the challenge of decarbonising heat and delivering low-carbon buildings.

“By offering an end-to-end heat network solutions service backed with expert advice – from design to after-sales support – we can make the process simple, straightforward and successful for our customers.”
