A deeper dive into domestic energy trends
Launched in November 2022, the MCS data dashboard offers detailed information on every certified small-scale renewable installation in the UK since 2008.
With battery storage now included, users can track the rapid rise of this technology, which has seen a record number of installations in 2024, surpassing 11,000 systems this year alone.
Adam Padilla, scheme insights manager at MCS, said: “Battery storage in particular is enjoying a surge in popularity, so it’s a perfect time to be able to start sharing the statistics with a wider audience so that this growth can be tracked and measured by both people working on renewable installations and those who influence the policies for our low carbon future.”
New data, new opportunities
In addition to battery storage data, the latest updates to the dashboard include installation and contractor data from the Isle of Man for the first time. The tool now allows users to filter data by month, providing fresh insights into the growth of renewable technologies.
Contractor data has also been improved, enabling users to see the number of certified contractors and track their activity across different regions.
The updated data dashboard, used by companies, researchers, policymakers, and journalists, continues to be a vital resource for tracking the UK’s progress towards net zero.
It offers real-time updates on adoption rates, geographical distribution, and growth potential across the UK’s small-scale renewables sector.
