Midsummer Energy takes on challenge for RePower Ukraine

The Cambridge-based Midsummer Energy team has kicked off a fundraising challenge to run 1,900 miles in just one month for RePower Ukraine.

The distance, the equivalent of running from the team’s UK head office in Cambridge to Slobozhanske Hospital in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine, will be attempted by Midsummer’s enthusiastic volunteers who will be running an estimated 2.5 marathons every day.

Some runners will be contributing a few miles each week whilst more ambitious colleagues will be clocking up the miles every morning, lunch break and evening.

Equipment for power cuts

Midsummer works with some of the world’s leading green-tech manufacturers to facilitate the energy transition.

Midsummer and Photon Energy have been working together to fund a 36.5kW solar PV/battery system for Slobozhanske Hospital in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine.

By providing relatively small PV systems with 30-40kWh of battery storage means electricity can be provided to ICUs, maternity units and monitoring equipment during the power cuts.

They have recently donated and shipped PV modules, inverters and battery storage to the hospital, and are now raising funds for additional equipment which will all be bought from Ukrainian suppliers (mounting system, cabling, isolators etc) and for the installation of the system by local Ukrainian installers.
