This parliamentary advisory group focuses on advancing UK housing policy in energy efficiency and sustainable development.

Neil Mitchell expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating: “Joining the Policy Liaison Group for Future Homes is an honour and a significant opportunity to drive forward initiatives that align with HSEnergy Group’s mission to provide cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions.

“Decarbonising homes is a national priority, and I am excited to represent our community and contribute to policy developments that will make energy-efficient, healthy living accessible for everyone.”

Driving policy for sustainable housing

As part of his role, Neil will bring insights from HSEnergy Group’s renewable energy expertise, including solar and battery solutions, directly to Parliament.

This will help shape critical areas such as the 2025 Future Homes Standard and innovative energy models to improve energy performance in both new-build and retrofitted homes.

Nick Miles, chairman of the Policy Liaison Group for Future Homes, welcomed Neil’s appointment, saying: “I am delighted to have HSEnergy join the PLG for Future Homes as an Advisory Board member.

“HSEnergy has a phenomenal story to share with policymakers, exemplifying the resourceful, enterprising, and solutions-driven businesses that populate our sector.

“Neil Mitchell’s unique expertise in solar installation and batteries is a tremendous asset to the Group. I look forward to having him and HSEnergy colleagues participating in our discussions and policy analysis to support parliamentarians’ understanding of common challenges facing the green transition and how best to configure the complex array of solutions available.”

Improving housing standards

HSEnergy Group, with a customer base exceeding 10,000, has long been a pioneer in renewable energy, helping households and businesses achieve energy independence.

Neil’s involvement with the PLG for Future Homes will focus on addressing the UK’s energy efficiency gaps, highlighted by a recent Office of National Statistics report showing over half of England and Wales registered properties fall below the Government’s Decent Homes Standard.

Neil will work alongside other industry leaders, providing feedback to policymakers, participating in advisory meetings, and contributing to briefing papers.

His role aims to ensure future housing policies reflect the practical expertise of the energy sector while driving tangible improvements in UK housing standards.
