The company was named Large Business of the Year and received the Environmental & Sustainability Award, highlighting its innovation, employee support, and contributions to the green transition.
Excellence in business and employee wellbeing
Ideal Heating was recognised in the Large Business of the Year category for its exceptional performance, market leadership in domestic and commercial heating, and commitment to staff welfare. Judges noted Ideal’s positive workplace culture and its Wellbeing Charter, which prioritises employee health, wellbeing, and financial support.
Jason Speedy, chief operations officer at Ideal Heating, emphasised the company’s commitment to its people:
“We’re delighted to have been recognised in these awards. Although we operate nationally, the heart of our business is, and always has been, in Hull.
“We’re particularly proud to have been recognised for our commitment to supporting the wellbeing of our team members.
“Our people are at the core of everything we do and we’re dedicated to creating a safe and supportive workplace environment for all our colleagues.”
Leading the way in sustainability
Ideal Heating’s £60m investment programme at its Hull site was pivotal in securing the Environmental & Sustainability Award. This initiative includes expanded production and logistics facilities, a cutting-edge research and development centre for low-carbon heating technologies, and the manufacture of heat pumps.
The company has also invested £2.2m in its National Training and Technology Centre in Hessle, East Yorkshire, where up to 5,000 installers are trained annually to support the UK’s transition to renewable heating solutions.
Judges praised Ideal’s significant efforts to lead the decarbonisation of heating, highlighting its investment in developing, testing, and manufacturing heat pumps.
A milestone moment
The awards coincided with a visit by Miatta Fahnbulleh, minister for energy consumers, to announce government funding supporting Ideal Heating’s heat pump manufacturing initiative. Ideal’s recognition at the HEY Business Awards reflects its growing role in shaping the UK’s sustainable future.
