Director of the Heat Pump Federation, Bean Beanland, and Dragons Den presenter Evan Davies have come together to create the Happy Heat Pump Podcast series.
Aimed primarily at consumers who are thinking about installing a heat pump, live episodes so far cover topics such as what a heat pump is, how it works, how to use one, how much it costs to install and what 2025 might bring.
It’s been 18 months in the making and came about after the duo met a couple of times at events. For Evan, it’s a topic he’s interested in and wanted to explore, so the show largely takes the format of Evan posing questions to Bean as a heat pump aficionado.
During the introductory episode, Evan explained: “This is a side hustle, nothing to do with my employer. It’s a hobby. Joining me in the series is the great Bean Beanland. He knows as much about heat pumps as anyone in the country.
“This podcast series is first and foremost for anyone thinking of installing a heat pump and anyone interested in heat pumps, or net zero and the mission of electrifying Britain in order to decarbonise it.
“Bean and I will be giving bite-sized portions of heat pump intel, week by week, from the very beginning, of what is a heat pump, to more advanced level topics. As it happens, I will be asking most of the questions and Bean will be answering them.”
Short, digestible episodes covering a variety of topics
Bean added: “The Happy Heat Pump Podcast is intended to be a positive contribution to improving knowledge and understanding among ordinary consumers, without a sales pitch. The initial reaction has been positive.
“The episodes are short and digestible and will cover a variety of topics. People can also send in questions for us to answer and we might have some dedicated clinic-style episodes where we just answer questions.
“There’s a lot to think about in the year coming up so we will keep going with the podcast as long as there is appetite. The initial reaction has certainly been positive.”
The podcast is available on Apple, Spotify and YouTube.
