A Day in the Life of Vestel Mobility’s Sally Bailey

One of the best things about putting together the Renewable Energy Installer magazine is talking to the variety of passionate people who are working hard to further the net zero agenda. We love digging a bit deeper to find out more about some of the diverse roles available and the people behind the job titles.

Here we take a look at a day in the life of Sally Bailey from Vestel Mobility.

Name: Sally Bailey
Organisation: Vestel Mobility
Job title: Sales and Business Development Manager
Location: Hertfordshire
Your company/business in one line: The best charge point manufacturer in quality and value!

My alarm goes off at….5am

The first thing I do each day is …After getting out of bed, I head to the gym with my partner, I like to be there for 5.30am so I can get a good workout in.

I prepare for the day ahead by …Completing my workout with a 20-minute yoga/meditation routine that helps my concentration. Then having a large vat of tea, normal, standard, builders brew, milk, no sugar, if anyone is offering!

I can’t leave the house without …My airpods and my latest knitting or crochet project, depending on the size of it. I don’t fancy lugging around the latest blanket I’m creating!

My typical day

My role is all about expanding our presence in the industry, working with Charge Point Operators (CPOs), fleet operators, wholesalers, and maintaining strong relationships with our existing clients. Some days, that means catching up with familiar faces, ensuring they know about the latest developments at Vestel and how our solutions can support their business. Other times, it’s about reaching out to new contacts—whether that’s a warm introduction, a LinkedIn message, or the classic cold call.

Around 7am, I open my laptop to check emails and remember I’ve started making a cup of tea, so go through them on my phone, actioning the urgent emails while it brews. The remainder I deal with at my laptop sipping on my hot brew.

I make the packed lunch for my children – I’ve been doing this almost every morning since they started school, they’re 16 and 18 now, and I’m already dreading the last packed lunch I’ll have to make.

At 8am I take them to school, yes, they could walk, but it’s about a 40 min walk and I ‘d rather them do it on their way home.

I return home, feed the dogs and cats, I have two of each, all Romanian rescues, all have interesting personalities! Then continue my work day. I reach out to current and potential clients for meetings to let them know about the amazing products we have at Vestel.

9.30am, I head into London for meetings with clients, these range from small installers to larger CPOs to consultants. Working together to enable net zero for a greener, sustainable future.

6pm I head home, hopefully I remembered to turn on the slow cooker before I left so I have a lovely home cooked meal to go home to, if not, then it’s either a quick pesto pasta, or I persuade my partner that it’s definitely his turn to cook!

The worst part of my job…I can’t think of anything really, mind you, I’ve only been doing this job for 3 months, so maybe check in with me in a couple of years! I doubt if anything would change though. I’m loving it so far!

The best part of my job… It’s hard to say, there’s so many things. Vestel is an amazing company to work for. Everyone has been so helpful and friendly since I joined, I’ve been made to feel so welcome. I love making new connections and keeping in contact with my old network. It helps that I’m selling such a great range of products too.

I relax after work by…Knitting, crocheting, baking, I’m a bit of a creative feeder. My kids love the fact that there’s always some new treat to try, or food to eat. And they love the fact that I’m always making potions (their words) I make all natural cleaning products, balms and oils.

On my bedside table is…My phone as it’s my alarm, a couple of books, those that know me, may know what they are, especially if you were at Latymers for a reading session. My homemade magnesium balm; helps me sleep, a dragon (I’m Welsh) for the kids that wears a nose cosy that was bought for me, by the kids as I’m always cold! Oh, and a lamp that turns on by touch, which I almost always turn on when I accidentally knock it at night, wondering what the time is!

The last thing I do each day is…Make sure I let my dogs back in and they are in their beds, the kids are all in their bedrooms, set my alarm for the next day, curl up in bed next to my partner, who insists I snore, I do not!

I’m normally in bed by…Since I’m no longer as rock n roll as I used to be, I’m in bed for 10pm, unless I’m at an evening event, when you will find me there until the last person leaves!
