Two towers have been installed on agricultural land in Herefordshire and Shropshire, each accommodating 10kW turbines and both constructed to benefit from higher wind speeds at an elevated 20m height.
Dean Drinkwater, managing director of Hutchinson Engineering, based in Widnes, UK explained: “We have designed bespoke 12m and 15m wind turbine towers for Bergey, but this is the first time we have custom-built a 20m structure.
“The monopole has a smaller footprint than lattice towers, it is easy to install with the hydraulic ram, and the design is aesthetically pleasing to minimise the impact on the environment and visually enhance the surrounding landscape.
“We were chosen to build the towers by SIAC, the sole distributor of Bergey turbines in the UK and Ireland, because of our solid reputation in the industry.
“Bergey Windpower is the oldest and most experienced manufacturer of residential-sized wind turbines in the world, and we are growing our partnership with this firm.”
