Boyd is currently chief operating officer at global organisation Carbon War Room which aims to accelerate entrepreneurial solutions for drastically cutting carbon emissions.
Energy secretary Edward Davey said: “I am delighted that Peter Boyd has been recruited to this important post. Peter will bring valuable experience in rolling out major programmes from his time with the Virgin Group to his current role at Carbon War Room, and I am very confident that he will make a major contribution to the energy efficiency agenda.”
Climate change minister Gregory Barker said: “Peter brings great insight into the economic opportunities from tackling climate change, and how we unlock UK and global markets. I am delighted Peter is joining EEDO at this important time as we scale up our ambitions on energy efficiency.”
Peter Boyd added: “Energy efficiency is not only central to tackling dangerous climate change but it is good for business. At the Carbon War Room, we have found this to be a multi-billion dollar global market opportunity.
