The film will be made in two versions – a 5-6 minutes length documentary will be featured across all BPVA’s media channels including its website, YouTube and all other social media as well as featuring on media partners’ websites and BPVA’s Video Wall at the Solar Power UK show in October. A 30 – 60 second version will also be created to be used for prime time TV advertising.
Rather than making a film about the wonders of solar energy, BPVA propose to take a hard-nosed look at the business case behind various solar energy projects and to demonstrate that, despite the Feed-in Tariff changing on 01 August, most installations will offer a good return on investment of around 6 – 8 per cent.
To do this BPVA are actively looking for solid business examples featuring enthusiastic people who can demonstrate successful solar projects they’ve developed in the following categories; residential, industrial, commercial, agricultural and large scale ground mount.
The budget for the creation of the film is £24,000 which will be paid for from the BPVA general membership fund. Any BPVA member with a suitable project in any of the categories below is asked to contact BPVA chairman Reza Shaybani by emailing reza.shaybani@bpva.org.uk with the details and location.
– The growing energy shortages faced by the UK
– The viability of solar power as the ‘renewable’ option
– The falling costs of solar installation
– The ability to generate income under the Feed-in Tariff
The filming will take place during July and August and climate minister Greg Barker has already agreed to take part.
