Contrary to previous announcements that there would be no large scale marketing of the scheme, and promotion would be entirely industry led, it is now understood the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is working on plans for a £2m strategy.
Sources have indicated that a number of large communications agencies have been asked to submit plans for a £2m scheme plus indications of what a £5m-10m strategy would look like.
A DECC spokesman has confirmed to the Guardian that the department was currently exploring a range of different options for ‘promoting Green Deal’ and did not rule out the use of a formal marketing campaign.
