The interactive workshops will be delivered by energy training specialists covering the following topics:
- Energy auditing, surveys, monitoring and targeting
- Staff awareness, commitment, motivation and Energy literacy
- Energy efficiency and finding opportunities to reduce consumption
- Strategic awareness, planning and Energy Management Systems
- Green Deal support – how to utilise national funding to pay for energy efficiency changes.
According to DECC, the workshops include a site tour of a company already excelling at energy management whilst delegates will also have the opportunity to purchase energy meters at a heavily discounted rate.
Workshop Timings & Locations
- Wednesday 26th February – Commerce Court, Bradford (Morning)
Commerce Court was built in 1995. Energy improvements have been undertaken and more are planned. Property director Andrew Robertson will also talk about energy efficiency lessons learned from the newer Bradford Chamber Business Park (BREEAM ‘Very Good’) & the City Hub retrofit project currently underway in a Conservation Area (on track for BREEAM ‘Very Good’). Andrew can also talk about a solar PV installation recently undertaken at the Chamber’s Grade II* listed headquarters.
- Wednesday 6th March, Sutcliffe Play, Wakefield (Morning)
Yorkshire based Sutcliffe Play are designers, suppliers and UK manufacturers of children’s outdoor play equipment. This employee-owned company continually work hard to minimise their environmental impact in their factory and offices. Sutcliffe Play will share with us what they have done and what they plan to do next.
- Friday 15th March, Greenhouse Leeds (Morning)
Leeds based Greenhouse is a pioneering low carbon development. The award winning part refurb and part new build complex includes both office and residential space. Come along to see a range of technologies in action – from solar panels and heat pumps to insulation and energy monitoring, which feeds back energy use to occupiers to try and educate and inspire more sustainable usage.
- Wednesday 20th March, Hebden Bridge Town Hall (Morning)
Hebden Bridge Town Hall is a part new build development and part landmark listed building. The building is BREEAM very good and a number of energy efficiency features are embedded into the fabric of the building, including high efficiency boilers, automatic lighting controls and renewable energy.

The cost to attend a workshop is £50 + vat. This is a 75 percent discount on costs due to DECC funding the bulk of the costs for this program. This includes copies of presentations, handouts, workshop notes, exercises, case studies, refreshments and lunch. These workshops will only be available until 31 March.
