Daikin supports RHI training boost

Daikin UK has welcomed the government’s recent pledge of an extra £150,000 of funding for renewable heating systems installation and maintenance training. This, the company says, is vital to ensure there are sufficient installers skilled in the installation of renewable heating technology.

The announcement brings the total funding available from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to £650,000, with companies able to claim up to £500 each. The scheme is designed to support existing heating and plumbing installers in undertaking renewable heating training. A separate scheme is available for companies to support their apprentices with training in renewable technology.

Peter Verkempynck, md of Daikin UK, said: “We are pleased that the government is continuing to support installer training in the renewables industry. Along with our own investment in training programmes, the additional funding will help to provide more places to upskill the workforce in preparation for the domestic RHI. This support will help achieve the government’s target of 20 percent of the UK’s energy provision being sourced from renewables by 2020.”
