HETAS training demand fuelled by RHI

HETAS has reported a large rise in demand for its training courses, particularly biomass, driven by the domestic RHI.

Figures just released show a 34 percent increase in the number of candidates attending HETAS training courses compared to the previous 12 months.

Refresher training is also proving popular with new legislation requiring that from June 2014 anyone registered with a competent person scheme must have up to date training qualifications. That means they must have attended either a training course or a refresher course within the last five years.

HETAS training manager Andy Mathews said: “The solid fuel and biomass sector is growing, no doubt as a result of impetus from the RHI. We are constantly reviewing and revising our courses to meet demand, and as well as catering for the solid fuel industry we also offer a range of courses ideal for gas and oil installers who are looking to expand their skills and offer biomass to their customers.”
