Daikin UK launches indoor unit for low temperature heat pumps

Daikin UK has launched a new compact floor standing unit that integrates the hydrobox and domestic hot water cylinder reducing the installation and servicing time whilst minimizing the unit’s footprint.

The new all-in-one floor standing indoor unit, which is now available in the UK, is extremely compact, combining the hot water tank and indoor unit of the Daikin Altherma heat pump into a sleek modern looking appliance.

The unit requires minimal side clearance and no rear clearance as all water and refrigeration pipework connections are located at the top of the unit. This effectively reduces the installation footprint by 50% to 0.45m2.

Incorporating all hydraulic components such as the circulating pump, expansion vessel and back-up heater, installation time is reduced, as only water and refrigerant connections are required.

Installers can quickly and efficiently commission and service the indoor heat pump unit by accessing essential system elements via the front panel.

The integrated indoor unit is a new addition to the UK range and complements the existing wall mounted units. Both indoor units are ideal for space heating and hotwater production with the wall mounted unit providing the ability to add a domestic hot water tank or thermal store, offering installers and end clients total system design flexibility.

The Daikin Altherma Low Temperature (LT) Split heat pump is designed to withstand severe winter temperatures as low as -25 °c, allowing it to deliver energy efficient renewable heat in all conditions. Consisting of an outdoor and indoor unit, the split system is ideal for new-build, retrofit and low energy properties.

Richard Paine, Product Manager for Domestic Heating and Renewables at Daikin UK said, “We’re delighted to be launching the new integrated indoor unit for the Daikin Altherma LT heat pump to the UK market.

“Showcasing Daikin’s on-going commitment to innovation, the new indoor unit reduces the installation space required for the system as well as time, with all components easily accessed via the front panel. Ensuring complete system design flexibility, the indoor unit range offers both a floor standing solution and a wall mounted unit which provides the opportunity to connect additional renewable systems to further reduce energy use and running costs.”
