Demystifying the route to renewables

The webinars, hosted by OFTEC and in partnership with MCS, consist of three short sessions developed in response to feedback from technicians and will primarily focus on heat pump technologies.

Launching on Friday 12th March, the first webinar will offer an insight into the heat pump market, including the policies that are expected to drive a huge expansion of the renewables sector during the 2020s. The second will offer demonstrations and practical guidance by a professional heat pump technician and the final webinar will cover the steps involves in becoming MCS registered.

OFTEC’s head of registration Adrian Lightwood explains: “OFTEC, working closely with MCS, has offered registration in renewable heating technologies, including air and ground source heat pumps, since 2014.

“While OFTEC remains committed to liquid fuels and the development of a renewable replacement for heating oil, we know that heat pumps will undoubtedly play a key role in meeting the UK’s target of net zero emissions by 2050. So, we want to make sure technicians know what they need to do to qualify as an installer and capitalise on every aspect of this evolving market.

Ian Rippin, CEO at MCS continues: “Our aim is to demystify the renewables sector and build technicians’ confidence in these heating technologies. As we move to a low carbon future, it is the professionals who can provide expertise across the heating market who will be the winners in terms of business and supporting this crucial transition.”
