Industry merger set to shake up the UK’s energy advice and installation sector

The merger of leading UK consumer advisor, The Heating Hub, with renewables tech start-up Warmur comes as 24% of households search for support in adopting energy efficiency measures, off peak tariffs and green home upgrades.

New partnership looks to bridge the consumer advice gap.

Consumer interest in heat and energy solutions is increasing rapidly with Google Trends reporting 700% growth in the past three years.

The Warmur platform helps consumers to visualise their home’s potential for renewable energy in order to reduce their emissions and cut energy bills.

The Heating Hub is one of the leading energy advice centres in the UK, offering a one-stop-shop for impartial, personalised advice on heating systems and green home upgrades. With a nationwide network of technically assessed heating engineers the Hub aims to help consumers to find the best heating solutions for their homes.

Jo Alsop

Founder of The Heating Hub, Jo Alsop, said the announcement reflected an exciting future for the industry: “The marriage of our expert advice and Warmur’s software for calculating the green energy potential for homes, will radically simplify the upgrade process for households confused about where to start or which upgrade to do first.”

“With 24% of households actively looking for advice on off-peak tariffs, energy efficient home improvements or accessing grants, and 2.3m households likely to consider a heat pump at the point of replacement, we are perfectly positioned to meet a huge demand.”

Warmur’s tech takes a whole-home energy approach that analyses energy use, property type, local weather patterns and time of use tariffs to provide optimised combinations of renewable technologies that deliver the biggest energy and CO2 savings, addressing a huge knowledge-gap in the market.

Alex Butcher, Warmur Founder

Alex Butcher, founder of Warmur Technology, initially started working on a software solution to provide answers for his own home electrification project.

“Even as a well informed consumer, I found it incredibly difficult to work out the optimal solution for my home and get truly impartial advice. It became clear to me why the take up of renewables technologies remains low. I’m thrilled that Warmur is joining forces with The Heating Hub to bring this solution to home owners nationwide.”

Beginning early 2024, Warmur will launch its home energy calculator to provide optimised and bespoke whole-home electrification plans to consumers.

Alex continues: “For the first time consumers confused about where to start and which combination of upgrades to go for will have the tools and advice available to find the right course of action for them.”
