This means electric car drivers across the UK can charge their vehicles using solar and wind power at more than 1,700 InstaVolt chargers.
Octopus Energy supplies approximately a third of the electricity on Britain’s public charging network. This deal makes InstaVolt Octopus’ largest charge point operator customer, further solidifying their commitment to renewable energy.
‘Plunge Pricing’ for cheaper green charging
As part of the partnership, InstaVolt customers will benefit from Octopus’ innovative ‘Plunge Pricing’ scheme. Through Octopus’ Electroverse platform, drivers can access cheaper public charging when green energy is abundant, lowering costs during these periods.
InstaVolt joined Electroverse’s ‘one card, one app’ model last year, making it easier for EV drivers to access public chargers. Electroverse is Europe’s largest EV charging platform, connecting drivers to 850,000 chargers from 950 brands across 40 countries.
Expanding the network
InstaVolt’s chargers are found at over 800 UK locations, including popular stops like Costa Coffee, McDonald’s, Co-op, and Bannatyne Gyms.
The chargers are able to power an EV from 20% to 80% in about 15-20 minutes. With planned expansions into Spain, Portugal, and Ireland, InstaVolt continues to grow its network.
