Energy goals for Bridlington football stadium

Bridlington Town AFC’s Mounting Systems Stadium has completed the installation of 400 rooftop solar panels in partnership with HDM Energies, expected to save the club up to £42,000.

The project, part of the club’s green initiative, is powered by Duracell Energy and aims to reinvest savings into the East Yorkshire community.

Solar power and EV chargers boosting sustainability

The solar panels, installed by Pure Renewables, a Duracell Energy Platinum Partner, will power the stadium, with any surplus energy sold to the national grid. Alongside this, the installation of EV chargers will provide supporters with sustainable travel options.

Mark Millar, CEO of Puredrive Energy, said: “Duracell Energy is thrilled to be joining Bridlington Town AFC in their exciting journey towards a greener future. With a long-standing commitment to supporting grassroots football, we’re proud to stand alongside the new ownership as they drive Bridlington’s upward progress through the football league.”

“In addition to sponsoring this season’s shirt, Duracell Energy is powering the Seasiders renewable revolution with the installation of EV chargers at Queensgate, providing fans with a sustainable option to travel to and from games.”

A greener future for Bridlington AFC

Under new ownership by HDM Worldwide Limited, the club’s ambitions go beyond just football. Chairman Dan Rogers highlighted the benefits of the energy savings:

“Since taking ownership of the club just a few weeks ago, we’ve made such positive strides towards a sustainable future. Savings from the new energy scheme and the revenue generated from the solar systems will be passed onto loyal Seasiders fans, and reinvested via playing budgets and more.

“We want to ensure that cost is not a barrier to attendance for local football fans. Our focus is on maintaining a thriving football environment, creating new opportunities for the team, and giving back to the local community and the region that has been so supportive of our business.”

The club is set to combine its sustainability efforts with a focus on grassroots football development through the upcoming ‘Scholars’ scheme, which starts in September 2024.
