The event, which showcases the nation’s best electrical student and apprentice talent, presented participants with a series of practical challenges, including the installation of an electric vehicle charging point (EVCP).

Supporting the next generation of electricians

NICEIC played a key role in preparing the finalists for the competition by delivering EVCP installation awareness training and providing iPads—essential tools for modern electricians.

To further support the finalists, NICEIC and EAL will offer free training for the EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points once the competitors qualify as electricians.

Paul Collins, NICEIC technical director, commented: “Charlie is a deserving winner of this year’s SkillELECTRIC competition. He demonstrated key competences that the judges were looking for, including technical knowledge, attention to detail, and precision.

“NICEIC is pleased to have been closely involved in the event again, which does incredible work in raising standards and championing technical and professional integrity in the electrical industry. Charlie is a fantastic example of what individuals can achieve in the sector, and I hope his success will inspire other young people to consider this rewarding career path.”

Charlie Moore, who works for Norfolk-based Bramham Electrical Ltd, expressed his pride in winning the competition:

“I am thrilled to have won SkillELECTRIC. It’s been an incredible journey and has allowed me to learn new things every day.

“This competition has given me great confidence in my abilities and the potential I have to develop in this industry. There’s so much to learn, especially with the introduction of new green technologies, and I’m excited to keep growing within the electrical field.”

Employer and trainer praise Charlie’s dedication

“Charlie’s win is in no small part thanks to both our team and Tim Burgess from the College of West Anglia, who have all taught and guided him throughout his training.”

Al Parkes, managing director of EAL, praised the competition’s role in advancing skills in the electrical industry:
“We were delighted to jointly present the SkillELECTRIC UK finalists a prize with the NICEIC.

“It was great to see this year’s entrants showcase their skills and push the boundaries of what can be achieved in electrical engineering.
