NICEIC has announced that its heat pump installation and maintenance training course is now accessible through the government’s Heat Training Grant.

Launched by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero in 2023, the Heat Training Grant offers eligible heating engineers up to £500 towards heat pump training costs. This initiative supports the shift from traditional gas boilers to low-carbon heat pumps, a key step in the UK’s journey to achieve net zero by 2050.

Practical training for the future

NICEIC’s course is designed for experienced plumbing and heating engineers, equipping them with the skills needed to install, maintain, and repair air source heat pumps.

It also prepares participants to apply for certifications such as Competent Person, MCS, and PAS 2030. The programme covers regulations, system design, testing, and commissioning, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of heat pump technology.

Paul Price-Hazlehurst, head of delivery and operations at NICEIC, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our heat pump training course through the government’s Heat Training Grant.

“This will help heating engineers to upskill at a significantly reduced cost and ensure our sector has the necessary knowledge and experience as we continue to transition to low carbon technology.”
