Octopus Energy and UPOWA deliver zero bills homes

Octopus Energy and UPOWA have joined forces to fast-track the rollout of ‘Zero Bills’ homes, aiming to revolutionise sustainable living across the UK.

The partnership begins with 48 homes at Thakeham’s Templegate development in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, as part of a wider net zero carbon community.

UPOWA will install roof-integrated solar panels and battery storage for these homes, ensuring they meet the requirements of Octopus Energy’s ‘Zero Bills’ energy tariff. Launched in 2022, the tariff guarantees no energy bills for 10 years in homes equipped with green technologies like solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps.

A streamlined approach

To support the rollout, UPOWA has launched a dedicated ‘Zero Bills’ team, offering developers a seamless process for integrating solar, battery storage, and EV charging systems.

Backed by over 15 years of experience and more than 30,000 solar installations, UPOWA’s one-stop-shop service aligns with the government’s Future Homes Standard.

James Bull, founder and sales director at UPOWA, said: “This partnership represents a major step forward in making Zero Bills homes the standard for newbuild developments across the country.

“Our dedicated team ensures that developers have a hassle-free experience, enabling them to deliver highly desirable, future-proofed homes that benefit both homeowners and the planet.”

A greener future

Nigel Banks, zero bills director at Octopus Energy, commented: “‘Zero Bills’ homes are a triple win – for homeowners, developers and the environment.

“With partners like UPOWA, we’re accelerating our mission to roll out 100,000 Zero Bills homes by 2030, creating a greener, more affordable energy future.
