Ecobuild – the way ahead

More businesses and homeowners in the UK are turning to renewable energy than ever before, according to the latest edition of the Renewable Energy Roadmap published by energy secretary Ed Davey.   The Roadmap shows that renewable energy output increased by 27 percent between July 2011 and July 2012, and now more than 10 percent of all energy created is coming from renewables.   And ministers from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) will be at Ecobuild 2013 to further discuss green initiatives.

HETAS training mapped against national standards

HETAS has become the first organisation to successfully map biomass assessments against National Occupational Standards (NOS). This means that biomass installer training will be available through HETAS’s nationwide network of approved training centers, some of which are approved with the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies.

Installer fined for illegal use of HETAS logo

A heating installer from Devon has been ordered to pay almost £3,500 by Barnstaple Magistrates Court for offences including the misuse of the HETAS logo. Warren Emo, trading as Fired Up, pleaded guilty to all three charges which included giving a customer incorrect advice on the installation of woodburning stoves.

The Green Electrician Group has won a contract to supply three vertical PV facades for Irwell Valley Housing Association. Working for main contractor ISG, the project includes the installation of three, 16-panel, vertical PV arrays on tower apartments, providing electricity for use in communal areas.
